The notable difference in the 5th revised and enlarged edition of this book, compared with earlier editions, is the change of the title of the book itself to read: Containerisation, Multimodal Transport and Infrastructure Development in India. Keeping up with the wider and expanded vision of the subject matter, the number and contents of the chapters have been increased, covering the topics adequately. Additional chapters have been added. Major changes include (a) Introduction of Logistics and Supply Chain Management with reference to Multimodal Transport; (b) Highlighting the National Maritime Development Programme and the special concentrated efforts to develop infrastructural facilities - road, national highways, rail, broad gauge permanent ways, airports, seaport terminals, inland waterways, communication channels - more importantly methods of financing the projects such as India Infrastructure Finance Co.
